Throwback Thursday

I'm going to be 100 per cent. I'm not a huge Biggie fan (Jay takes the cake), but I will give credit where credit is due. Biggie was one of the greats, there's really not much more I can say. "Party & Bullshit" speaks for itself.

Lil' Wayne Is FREE!

But first things first, Throwback Thursday.

Two Chris Bridges songs within the same week, I must be craze. Na but for real, this song just came on Fuse as the #10 Sexiest Hip-Hop Video and since there's a shout to HU I figured I'd go on and make this the throwback jaunt of the week. Plus it's homecoming here at Frostburg, so that means 8am daquris and a shit ton of alumni 25 years older than I... I don't have time for that shit, I'm headed home. Enjoy all that bs while it snows Saturday nerds.

makin sure I don't miss the homecomin' at Howard"

Throwback Thursday (Jiggy Edition)

Two things to address here:

1. So Will Smith actually met Ali... That brings up the question if he really told Smith that he was the greatest.

2. Don't even tell me this wasn't the jam in '98 because this shit was.

I can physically remember purchasing this single here at the now defunct Annapolis Tower Records. May it rest in peace. The Harbour Shopping Center used to be my shit, with a Lax World, a T.G.I.Friday's and Tower Records but now only one of those is still there (Lax World just moved to a more prominent locale 600ft away).

ps. Fun Fact: "Getting Jiggy Wit It" was co-written by Nasir "Nas" Jones.

Throwback Thursday

Today is a classic... classic son.

"...with my partner Young Dro,
Bumpin' Goodie Mob Soul Food number 4"

-T.I. "Top Back"

I'm not sure I have to say any more about this song. Other than Goodie Mob started Big Gipp's & Cee-Lo's careers and turned Atlanta into a hip-hop mainstay... Oh, and the colloquialism "Dirty South" originated from this track.

True Fact

G Shock (Digital Underground frontman) looks like GOP Chairman and Fmr. Lieutenant Governor of Maryland Michael Steele...

...anyways to continue on last post. Sorry for the lack of recent posts but here's Throwback Thursday.

p.s. Don't forget MD residents have 'till August 24th to register to vote and our primaries are September 12th.

Another Throwback Thursday where I choose a classic hip-hop/rap song for y'all to enjoy. At this point I don't really know which song I'm going to post for everyone's listening pleasure. Please allow me to sift through my iTunes...

Words can't explain, just open your ears and enjoy the 69 Boyz' 1994 hit "Tootsee Roll" (is that the correct pluralization of "Boyz"? They never taught us in cases with slang spelling.)

Throwback Thursday (John Wall Edition)

In an hour your Washington Wizards will presumably choose John Wall first overall in this year's NBA draft, so I'm fixin' to do a little tribute post to Mr. Wall and welcome him to a franchise that could use some star power. So first song up is C-Luva with his "Off Da Wall", the song that coincides with the John Wall dance.

Throwback Thursday:

Continuing with the John Wall trend we got a classic from North Carolina's own Petey Pablo. If you watched the lil' dance and Wall's intro to Kentucky's midnight madness you would've seen my boys from Raleigh... shoulda gone to Duke Georgetown, but I'm not judging.

Throwback Thursday

"...'cos you could get through anything if Magic made it.
And that was called recycling or re-reciting..."

So today is that day, Thursday. I have a pretty long-winded post with three songs at the end of that rainbow. A lot of good stuff is on the ledger today, including the U.S. Open and a little story about a no-show at Ashburn and the recouping of 21 million, turn on ESPN and y'all can see all that nonsense. Any other day I might say peep Weir or offer my opinion about Haynesworth, but it's all about reminiscing today.

Most of my musical tastes dealing with classical rap start and end with Jay and the New York scene of the 90's, or in several cases it stems from present day artists sampling, jacking lines or even dropping a name here or there... with the exception of Tribe (big ups to my brothers Juice and Kess the Mess for introducing me to Phife Dawg et. al). Today's song(s) are all thanks to the dc landscape and two of her most prominent artists, Wale and Marky.

Marky spat over the "T.R.O.Y." beat, while Wale, Lupe and Kardinal Offishall did the same for their "Dope Boys" and even Mary J. Blige sampled the original.

"They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)" is one of those classics songs that are perfect examples of the Golden Age, and tend to be those songs I choose for Thursdays.

Modest Throw Mouseback Thursday on a Tuesday Megapost

Okay this weekend/Thursday was kinda crazy. So crazy I don't even remember what I did Thursday, nevertheless the was rather busy and entailed seeing the O's game Sunday (see above), going home for a night and stopping at pretty much every shopping area from Maryland's eastern shore to Hagerstown with the gf (not complaining, it was one of the better recent weekends and a good way to end the semester).

So, in order to make up for the absence of new posts I'll combine last Monday & Thursday and turn it in to a nice little double post.

Throwback Thursday:

Wu-Tang? Yup. Break Shit. Now.

Wu-Tang Clan-Wu-Tang Clan Ain't Nuthin' Ta Fuck Wit

Modest Mouse Monday:

Technically, I used this one already in a post under the original TKAM Blizzy Blog, but no one read that one and since summer is literally about 20 hours away I feel it's an applicable choice.

Modest Mouse-Summer

Because I love you:

Here's a bonus Cure song entitled "Close To Me", now let me get to studying for this last final so I can get a nice little 3.5 for the semester, make that Dean's List & transfer from this frozen hell hole. Boom Roasted.

Sooo Actually....

Here's the new blog, wordpress sucked and I couldn't stay away from blogging... This time I'll try not to violate the DMCA sooooo many times.

Why not kick off Part Deux with a patented Throwback Thursday?

I believe two Throwback Thursdays ago I posted some Nas and other cats from Queensbridge... Welp, it doesn't get much harder than this duo, Mobb Deep. In all actuality I'm quite surprised I didn't include this track earlier, it's one of my favourites of all-time. Off The Infamous this is "Shook Ones Pt. 2".
