Throwback Thursday

"...'cos you could get through anything if Magic made it.
And that was called recycling or re-reciting..."

So today is that day, Thursday. I have a pretty long-winded post with three songs at the end of that rainbow. A lot of good stuff is on the ledger today, including the U.S. Open and a little story about a no-show at Ashburn and the recouping of 21 million, turn on ESPN and y'all can see all that nonsense. Any other day I might say peep Weir or offer my opinion about Haynesworth, but it's all about reminiscing today.

Most of my musical tastes dealing with classical rap start and end with Jay and the New York scene of the 90's, or in several cases it stems from present day artists sampling, jacking lines or even dropping a name here or there... with the exception of Tribe (big ups to my brothers Juice and Kess the Mess for introducing me to Phife Dawg et. al). Today's song(s) are all thanks to the dc landscape and two of her most prominent artists, Wale and Marky.

Marky spat over the "T.R.O.Y." beat, while Wale, Lupe and Kardinal Offishall did the same for their "Dope Boys" and even Mary J. Blige sampled the original.

"They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)" is one of those classics songs that are perfect examples of the Golden Age, and tend to be those songs I choose for Thursdays.

NEW Marky!

The dc scene is blowing up!

Gotta love it... Tabi, Mr. Folarin, X.O. and now Marky. Can't wait to get my check card back after losing it at Camden Yards so I can finally purchase a dc flag I've been coveting for a few months now (better than pilfering one from the streets).

Anyways. I have a leaked track from Rest Stop 3, it'll drop soon... stay tuned.

Stop The Motherflippin' Presses!

What do Marky and Johnny Cash have to do with each other?

Nothing before today, but Rest Stop 2 just dropped this morning. I copped it at lunch while coming home from work, and just unzipped the file while trying to find some Donnis stuff. Surprisingly the first track samples "God's Gonna Cut You Down"... never saw that one coming. Listening to the full tape now, love it. Watch out for Marky, here's "Run On" and the full tape link is just below the mp-thrizzle.

Wale Wednesday Uber-post

Once again I'm too tired/lazy to make several posts but I have a few songs today. I'll begin with Wale Wednesday, leading into a new Marky song and finish with a song that wraps up my day effectively... aka the usual.

Wale Wednesday:

Let me check my iTunes, to see what song I want to post. Check that, let me connect my iPhizzy-Phone and I'll post the most recently played... while it syncs, I'll guess it was the original mix of "Chillin" sans Lady G.

-Correction, I was off by one and "Nothing To Worry About" snuck by me.

New Marky:

"Louis Squares" off Journey To Markyland, USA: Rest Stop 2... Just an excuse to post more quality dmv stuff, ya digg.

Obligatory day wrap up...aka scroll down to the mp3 if you don't want to hear about my life:

Today was the last final I was required to take, it was fairly simple and with any luck I'll get an "A" in the State and Local Politics... ironic now that I'm considering swapping the major. Anyways I also got a 90% on my term paper on The Chesapeake Bay Trust Fund (Ballerific). So after a great breakfast I cooked, I was forced to pack up the car say goodbye to the gf and kiss her goodbye (I know you don't care but whatever).

Long story short, after a 4 hr road trip, I'm homeskis now. So tired, about to turn on King of The Hill and fall asleep... alone for the first time in weeks... kinda weird.

Enough about me, I'm sorry here's some guy called Edward Sharpe his Magnetic Zeros.
