"...'cos you could get through anything if Magic made it.
And that was called recycling or re-reciting..."
So today is that day, Thursday. I have a pretty long-winded post with three songs at the end of that rainbow. A lot of good stuff is on the ledger today, including the U.S. Open and a little story about a no-show at Ashburn and the recouping of 21 million, turn on ESPN and y'all can see all that nonsense. Any other day I might say peep Weir or offer my opinion about Haynesworth, but it's all about reminiscing today.
Most of my musical tastes dealing with classical rap start and end with Jay and the New York scene of the 90's, or in several cases it stems from present day artists sampling, jacking lines or even dropping a name here or there... with the exception of Tribe (big ups to my brothers Juice and Kess the Mess for introducing me to Phife Dawg et. al). Today's song(s) are all thanks to the dc landscape and two of her most prominent artists, Wale and Marky.
Marky spat over the "T.R.O.Y." beat, while Wale, Lupe and Kardinal Offishall did the same for their "Dope Boys" and even Mary J. Blige sampled the original.
"They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)" is one of those classics songs that are perfect examples of the Golden Age, and tend to be those songs I choose for Thursdays.
